Therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, overwhelm, low self-esteem & change work

Are you feeling as though nothing you've tried works?

Hi, I'm Damian Hourican, offering therapy that helps you move forward.

Feeling overwhelmed or like you're going round in circles?

I realise starting therapy can feel daunting. You may be tired of feeling this way and unsure where to begin - I know I was before therapy gave me the step up I once needed. I now work with an ethos of giving back to others by providing a calm space where you can talk openly. Through the therapeutic process we can safely unpack any emotional or psychological distress and nurture ways to gain clarity, peace, and a sense of control. Therapy may offer you the space to heal, grow and reconnect with yourself. That's how I experienced it and my practice is set up to provide those same opportunities for others. Things can feel different.

Who do I specialise in helping?

Are you wanting help with:

  • Anxiety, panic or constant worry
  • Low mood or depression
  • Trauma or distressing past experiences
  • Difficulties in relationships
  • Low self esteem or confidence
  • Feeling stuck, overwhelmed or disconnected
  • Struggling with loss, change or life transitions
  • Habit change

What's it like to work with me?

My approach is calm, grounded, warm and goal orientated.

I won’t just sit back and nod. I’ll work with you to explore patterns, identify what’s keeping you stuck, and help you move forward at a pace that feels right.

My experiences of personal therapy shapes how I work: with honesty, empathy, and a focus on what actually helps.

I draw from approaches such as CBT and EMDR, depending on what fits you best—but more importantly, I focus on building a space where you can speak openly, feel understood and gain the most out of our sessions. My practice is centred around making you feel comfortable and actually making progress.

I offer 8 or 12 weekly sessions to target specific issues- for some this is exactly what they need, others choose to work on seperate aspects of their life and continue with a weekly, fortnightly or monthly session - it's your space, your choice.

Through therapy, you can begin to:

  • Gain clarity and self-understanding
  • Develop healthier ways of managing difficult emotions
  • Process painful or traumatic experiences
  • Improve relationships including the one you have with yourself
  • Feel more grounded confident and resilient
  • Make the positive changes you know would improve your life.
  • Break long standing habits and reinforce healthier ones.

Comfortable private rooms in Wimbledon

Making sure we get the right therapy for you.

8-12 weekly sessions or ongoing - it's your space

• Therapeutic Counselling - will allow you to feel comfortable as you begin to understand yourself better, talk about what's actually going on for you, nurture self compassion, feel heard and validated and work through the reasons you have come to counselling

• Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - exploring how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours interact, looking at alternatives, automatic responses, core beliefs, patterns in behaviour and identifying changes that can reduce distress.

Eye Movement Desentisization & Reprocessing (EMDR) - a structured approach which regulates the nervous system and provides a sense of closure, separating the past from the present often providing new meaning and clarity as you move forward. Particularly helpful for shifting self critical beliefs, processing trauma, and distressing memories. Struggling with trauma, anxiety or feeling stuck? EMDR therapy in Wimbledon can help.

• Other therapies - as an integrative therapist I draw from psychodynamic, internal family systems, attachment theory, hypnotherapy, NLP and many other therapy styles.

If you want to know more please contact me for information on individual therapy and how they work.

I have completed over six years of committed training and supervised clinical practice. This included in-depth theoretical study alongside extensive client work, including a clinical placement within the NHS, which helped shape a thoughtful, safe, and professional approach to therapy. I work in line with professional standards providing an integration of Therapeutic Counselling, CBT, EMDR and NLP tailoring my work to meet each client’s individual needs.
